Snow Rooms, Engineered for Real Snow After the Heat

A snow room is the coldest part of a thermal circuit: a chilled room, usually held between around -10°C and 0°C, where fresh snow falls or gathers so guests can cool down after the sauna or steam room. Getting it right means refrigeration, insulation and drainage designed together. Aqua Spazio designs and installs snow rooms and snow showers for hotels, spas and private wellness suites across the UK.

Our snow and ice installations

  • Snow rooms: walk-in chilled rooms with a snow generator producing fresh, soft snow.

  • Snow showers and snow paradise zones: compact snow features beside a sauna or plunge.

  • Ice fountains and ice niches: flaked ice for guests to rub on the skin after heat.

  • Cold rooms: chilled relaxation rooms without snow, for a gentler cool-down.

Why the engineering matters

A snow room sits next to some of the hottest, most humid rooms in a building, so condensation and ice build-up are the main risks. We design every snow room with:

  • Refrigeration plant sized to the room, the door traffic and the surrounding temperatures

  • Thick insulation, vapour control and thermal breaks to stop condensation on the outside

  • Heated or trace-heated drainage so meltwater clears without freezing

  • Slip-resistant floors, safe lighting and doors that are easy to open from inside

  • Plant sited away from the guest areas, with access for servicing

Snow rooms in a thermal circuit

Snow rooms work best as part of a hot–cold circuit, a few steps from the sauna and with somewhere to rest afterwards. We plan them alongside saunas, steam rooms and plunges so plant, drainage and ventilation are designed once.

Frequently asked questions

How cold is a snow room?

Most are held between around -10°C and 0°C, depending on the snow system and how the room will be used.

Is it real snow?

Yes. A snow generator makes fresh snow from water, usually on a timed cycle.

Can a snow room go in a home?

It is possible in larger private wellness suites, but most homes are better suited to a cold plunge or ice fountain. We will advise on what fits your space.
